At Newton British School, we follow the Early Years Foundation stage (EYFS) Framework. The EYFS supports an integrated approach to early learning and care and supports children to the age of five years. It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children’s primary ‘school readiness’ and gives children the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life. The framework gives all professionals a set of common principles and commitments to deliver quality early education.
This approach is built on four guiding themes:
1. A unique child- every child is a unique child who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self- assured
2. Positive relationships- children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships
3. Enabling environments- children learn and develop well in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to individual needs and there is a strong partnership between practitioners, parents and careers.
4. Learning and development Children learn and develop in different ways. The framework covers the education and care of all children in early years provision, including children with special educational needs.

In EYFS, we aim to teach the children through a range of engaging and exciting topics which captivates and enthuses the children. We use the children’s interests and ideas to help support and guide our planning, to ensure that their learning is child led and they are at the center of their learning. We pride ourselves on our rich, stimulating environment which supports early language development and on our classroom provisions which support and challenge the children to become independent learners, preparing the children for a successful transition to Year 1 and beyond.
